GRANT: SKIPPER SHOULD BE OKAY
/noticias.info/ Avram Grant has given his views on Chelsea's injury situation plus some recent newspaper stories, speaking with optimism on the club captain's chance of leading the team onto the pitch in Moscow.
The league season ended with questions over the participation of three players in the Champions League Final. Ricardo Carvalho missed the Bolton game as he recovers from a back problem; Terry suffered an elbow injury during the game and Grant voiced concerns over Didier Drogba's knee after the match.
Talking this afternoon (Tuesday), Grant said:
'We haven't had training today nor yesterday so we will have to see at training tomorrow how they are but John Terry I think will be okay.
'With Didier Drogba, I don't know how serious it is but I think he will give everything to play in this game.'
The striker himself has expressed confidence he will be fine for next Wednesday's big match and Grant also spoke about media speculation it could be Drogba's last game in a Chelsea shirt. He also commented on a quote from Petr Cech's agent about transfer interest.
'Since I am in football I know there are so many rumours,' said Grant. 'He [Drogba] has not said to me that he wants to leave, the club didn't decide that they want him to leave so for the moment I don't see any change.
'Petr Cech has his contract, he is happy, we are happy with him, I don't see any problem.
'Agents speak and they want the best for their players. Sometimes they do it in the right way, sometimes they do it on the wrong way, but I don't want to comment about what any agent says.'
On another story suggesting a mass sale of players, he added: 'There is no truth in these rumours as nobody except me and the owner know the players for next year.' notas_de_prensa_archivo
