CHELSEA: CHELSEA TV EXCLUSIVE: IT WILL BE TIGHT
/noticias.info/ Just weeks before he joined Chelsea in 2004, Didier Drogba sampled defeat in a European final. It was a taste of something he is determined to avoid next week.
The striker's penultimate match for Marseille was the Uefa Cup final. His team slipped to a 2-0 defeat against Valencia, coached back then by Rafael Benitez.
'I love these kind of games,' Drogba said of the European final experience. He was speaking exclusively to Chelsea TV.
'I am very excited about another one and I want to play, I want to perform and I want to win because when you lose these kind of games, it stays in your mind for a long time.
'It is a big opportunity for us to win this cup and offer it to the boss [Roman Abramovich]. The final is going to be in his country and we want to make him proud.'
Drogba already feels personal pride in scoring the semi-final goals that helped take Chelsea to Moscow, but insists:
'The club was looking for the Champions League final for five year and played well in every semi-final. Chelsea played fantastic against Monaco, I saw that game, and against Liverpool before we played well but we didn't win.
'So I really wanted to beat Liverpool and be in the Final but it is not the end. The most important thing is to win.'
Domestically Drogba has proved an habitual scorer in cup finals, with three Carling Cup strikes and last season's FA Cup decider, against Wednesday's opponents Man United
'There is not really a big gap between the two teams. Every time the score is decided by only two goals difference maximum or three once - so it is going to be tight. But for me the only objective is to win so I don't care if the game is going to be difficult or tight or exceptional.'
Bookmakers Paddy Power offer odds of 33/1 on Drogba scoring in a Chelsea 1-0 win. notas_de_prensa_archivo
