IRAQ: National Police capture key criminal (New Baghdad)

/noticias.info/ BAGHDAD – Iraqi National Policemen planned and executed a successful operation to capture an improvised-explosive-device cell leader and members of his cell in the New Baghdad district of eastern Baghdad, May 18.

Soldiers from 4th Brigade, 1st National Police Division, conducted an operation, capturing a Special Groups leader and four IED cell members who operate in and around the neighborhoods of Mashtal and al-Amin. The Special Groups leader tested positive for handling explosive materials.

Intelligence officials said the detention of these five criminals should significantly decrease IED activity in the area.

“This was a 100 percent National Police planned and executed operation,” said Maj. Joey Sullinger, spokesperson for 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light). “The successful capture of this Special Groups leader and his criminal cohorts attests to the professionalism, commitment and capabilities of the National Police.
