RHYS JONES MEMORIAL CUP
/noticias.info/ The Rhys Jones Memorial Cup was held at Everton’s official training ground on Wednesday.
The Fir Tree Under 12s - the former football team of the young boy who was tragically shot and killed last August - took part in the tournament held in his honour.
Arranged by Rhys’ father Stephen, The Rhys Jones Memorial Cup was launched with an anti-gun message.
Unfortunately the team lost their three group games; however that didn’t take away from the underlying message of the cup.
The tournament which was played under the motto “join a team, not a gang”, had 24 children taking part - both boys and girls.
Being held at Rhys’ beloved Blues’ training ground, Finch Farm, was the perfect situation for the second day of the tournament, with day one having taken place at the Liverpool Academy.
The teams that made it through to the knock-out stages of the cup will now play on Chester City’s Deva Stadium, starting at 6pm on Friday.
The eventual winner will be awarded with the Rhys Jones Cup. notas_de_prensa_archivo
