CAPELLO IMPRESSED BY TERRY
/noticias.info/ Fabio Capello has praised England captain John Terry for his performance during last night's 2-0 win over the USA.
The England manager was impressed by Terry's leadership after a tough week for the Blues captain, who missed a penalty during last week's Champions League Final.
But last night Terry proved his stamina with a first half opener as he latched onto a David Beckham free kick to head the ball into the back of the net.
'It made me happy, he is a good captain and it was a good performance,' said Capello, speaking to the BBC.
'I'm very happy because I saw from him on the pitch what I asked for before the game.
'John Terry is always John Terry, in good moments and bad. His charisma influences other players. He is a natural leader.'
Despite being his first game as captain under Capello, Terry was sure of whom he would dedicate last night's goal to.
'That goal was for all the supporters for last week,' said the Chelsea number 26.
'It has been a difficult period since what happened in Moscow but getting back into the routine has been a massive plus. I'm a big man and I can take it,' he added.
Ashley Cole saw out the full 90 minutes for England alongside Terry last night, before being replaced by Wayne Bridge in stoppage time, while Frank Lampard played for the first hour.
Joe Cole also made an appearance at Wembley as he replaced Wayne Rooney in the 78th minute. notas_de_prensa_archivo
