Liverpool came back from 2-0 down to beat Newcastle United in a six-goal thriller at Anfield in a game that saw future Red Dietmar Hamann sent-off for the Geordies.
The German international was given his marching orders for two bookable offences, one that saw Steve McManaman being forced to leave the field after 25 minutes through injury. Steven Gerrard, on as a replacement for McMananaman, was also forced to leave the field at half-time with injury after a challenge from Stuart Pearce.
Trailing to goals from Nolberto Solano and Swedish international Andreas Andersson, Liverpool scored four goals in the final 23 minutes of the game to produce a fantastic comeback. Michael Owen and Karl-Heinz Riedle did the damage as Ruud Gullitt's defence simply collapsed to a Reds onslaught.
