THE WINS KEEP COMING
/noticias.info/ A 2-0 win for Germany, captained by Michael Ballack, ensured it was a weekend to remember for Chelsea's Euro 2008 contingent.
The Germans' victory over Poland, courtesy of two goals from Polish-born Lukas Podolski came 24 hours after victories for the defensive quartet of Petr Cech (Czech Republic) and Paulo Ferreira, Ricardo Carvalho and José Bosingwa (Portugal).
The 31-year-old Chelsea midfielder was impressive throughout, creating an early chance for Miroslav Klose before passing up an opportunity of his own two minutes into the second half.
He hit another well-struck effort that tested Polish goalkeeper Artur Boruc, before Podolski wrapped up the points with 18 minutes remaining.
Elsewhere, Croatia beat joint hosts Austria 1-0 to equal Germany's three points in Group B from the opening round of fixtures. The Germans will meet Croatia in the next group game on Thursday. notas_de_prensa_archivo
