A goal two minutes from time by Peter Crouch rescued a point for Liverpool in a game they could easily have won.

Things looked comfortable for Rafael Benitez's side when Yossi Benayoun scored a superb goal to give the Reds a 19th minute lead.

Then in the 69th minute the game turned in Villa's favour. Substitute Marlon Harewood struck a spectacular overhead kick equaliser and three minutes later Fabio Aurelio deflected Olof Mellberg's effort into his own net to give Martin O'Neill's side a 2-1 lead.

However, Liverpool weren't to be denied and Crouch, on as an 80th minute substitute rescued a point for the Reds.
