FRIENDLY FOCUS - CAMBRIDGE
/noticias.info/ Cambridge United will again feature in the Blue Square Premier this season after suffering a heartbreaking play-off defeat against Exeter City at Wembley in May.
Jimmy Quinn’s side, who finished the 2007-08 campaign as runners-up to Aldershot, had been hoping for a return to the Football League following a three-year hiatus but went down 1-0 to the Westcountry club.
United’s most notable honour came in the 1990-91 season when they were crowned Third Division champions. They have also reached the quarter finals of the FA Cup on two occasions – in 1990 and 1991.
Notable former players include Andy Sinton, Dion Dublin, Steve Claridge and ex-Everton defender Gary Rowett. More recently Dave Kitson made his name at Abbey Stadium before playing in the Premier League with Steve Coppell’s Reading. notas_de_prensa_archivo
