IRVINE REUNION
/noticias.info/ An interview with Alan Irvine is one of the highlights of the latest Evertonian magazine.
The former Everton assistant manager is now in charge of Preston North End and took time out to chat at length with the club's official magazine.
He discusses the progress Everton made after his departure and his feeling surrounding the Toffees' pre-season friendly at Deepdale.
Irvine said: "I’m glad that it’s pre-season and so it doesn’t matter too much who wins. Had it been the FA Cup, that would have been a test of loyalties!
"I’m really looking forward to the game and to David Moyes, the players and staff coming because I love seeing them and talking to them. I get a lot of text messages from the players and I still feel very close to them all.
"I’m delighted that David has agreed to come. I know that he feels a little bit awkward about it because he doesn’t like people to think this is what he does every year but I managed to twist his arm!"
Alan was highly impressed with his former side's progression in the second half of last season, and revealed that he was warmly welcomed when he returned to Goodison to take in one of the memorable European nights.
"I went back for the Fiorentina game," he said. "It was a great game and although the result was a big disappointment, if you take the end of the game away, I thought it was fantastic.
"I loved my visit back and any fans I met were fantastic to me. It’s incredible the amount of Evertonians who have told me they are now closely following Preston’s results! All the staff and the players were great as well so it was good going back."
