Susan in Oregon:

I'm planning on inviting a couple friends but I'll mostly be inviting people from my block – going door to door and personally inviting them over – people I have wanted an excuse to get to know anyway. I'm planning on having a babysitter here so that she can watch the kids.

[This] will be a chance for people to talk about what they feel is at stake in this election, how we can move forward from the ruins of the last eight years and perhaps talk about what action we each plan to take in the coming weeks and months.

... We don't have money to give right now, so it is great to have an opportunity to give in another way.

Jessica in Florida:

I decided to host an event because I want to get people excited about the election and motivated to work hard to make sure that Obama gets elected. Voting is important but it is not enough – that will be the theme of the event. This is the first time that I have ever hosted an event like this.

I am inviting my friends and colleagues to the event. Many of us were Edwards and/or Clinton supporters, but I want everyone to come together now and support Obama. I am reaching out to them through the Obama website and personal e-mails. I also printed out some flyers (from the website) to hand out to people at work.

I hope to get everyone excited about Barack Obama! I hope to educate myself and everyone else on where he stands on important issues. I want everyone to be armed with the facts (so we will know what to say to our Republican friends and family members!). I also hope to brainstorm with my guests about ways that we can continue to support the campaign. Voting is not enough! notas_de_prensa_archivo
