US ELECTIONS 08: BARACK OBAMA: Blog: Unite for Change: Getting Ready for June 28
/noticias.info/ Supporters are gearing up for June 28 as they start preparing for their Unite for Change events. Here are a few more stories of what people are doing across the country...
David in Arkansas:
I jumped on the opportunity to host a Unite for Change event for a couple of reasons. As a County Party Chair in Arkansas, my early support of Senator Obama caused more than a few ruffled feathers among our membership, many of whom cut their political teeth with the Clintons in the 1970's and 1980's. It is crucial that these folks be welcomed and reassured.
I also see it as a golden opportunity to grow the party here in Northwest Arkansas. The bulk of the Obama supporters in our county have never been active in the Democratic Party, and we need them to help up and down the ticket, and to remain active for years to come.
I have already sent messages about the event to the local Obama groups through my.barackobama.com, and through my County Central Committee's e-mail list. The event info was then picked up and forwarded by members of the Senior Democrats and the Democratic Women of NW Arkansas. When I have time later today or tomorrow, I will also post it to our two Facebook groups, and our County Party's website.
Kenneth in Wisconsin:
I am a Senior Citizen residing in low income housing. I do not have the money I would like to contribute, but I have the time and organizational skills. I reserved the Community Room here to host a meeting for residents. If I can get some volunteers in the building we'll have coffee, and snacks. I am making up fliers that I will tape to everyone's door.
Loye in South Carolina:
I believe in Senator Obama's message of Change...that change does not come about from complacency, and together we can change the current situation in America.
For the last several weeks, I have been thinking of becoming a volunteer for Senator Obama's presidential campaign. When I read the announcement about Unite For Change, I thought it was an awesome opportunity to get involved.
I am new to Greenville (been here just over four months). The event will give me an opportunity to meet others in my new community. So far, I have contacted a few individuals whom I met since I have been here and I will be partnering with [my neighbor] to host the event.
From the beginning, this campaign has been about everyday people like you reaching out to friends and neighbors to talk about why you're inspired by Barack's message of change. If you want to be a part of Unite for Change on June 28, sign up now host an event in your neighborhood. notas_de_prensa_archivo
