LIVERPOOL FC: ON THIS DAY: JUNE 15, 2006
/noticias.info/ Peter Crouch and Steven Gerrard were both on target as England left it late to secure a 2-0 victory over Trinidad & Tobago in what was a frustrating group match for Sven Goran Eriksson's men at the 2006 World Cup.
The Soccer Warriors were on the verge of what would have been a famous point until Crouch pounced to give England the lead with an 83rd minute header. Gerrard then doubled the advantage with just seconds remaining with a sweet 20-yard effort that proved to be one of the goals of the tournament.
On that same day in 2006 Liverpool were still planning for the future and announced the appointment of Eduardo Macia as Joint Chief Scout.
The former Valencia man explained his role with the Reds.
"I work with Frankie McParland to look for players all over the world," he said.
"We are always watching videos, going to games and talking to our scouts. It's a very busy job but Liverpool is a fantastic club and I'm delighted to be here." notas_de_prensa_archivo
