IRAQ: ISF graduate from National Police Warrior Leader (Baghdad)

/noticias.info/ BAGHDAD – Loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage are the values instilled into the U.S. Army’s noncommissioned officer corps during their NCO education system courses.

The Warrior Leader Course is the first in a series of five to train the NCOs and is designed for Soldiers in the ranks of specialist, corporal and sergeant.

The Iraqi Security Forces adopted the U.S. Army format to train its junior leaders. These values were taught to the students at the 5th Brigade, 2nd Iraqi National Police Division’s Warrior Leader Course conducted in June.

The course was one week long, said Capt. Andrea Leaman, the provost marshal from 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, who hails from Casper, Wyo.

The training culminated with a graduation ceremony in front of the 5th Brigade headquarters at a joint security station in Saydiyah June 12.

Two officers spoke to the 24 graduates, 20 from the 5th Bde., 2nd NP Div. and four from the 24th Brigade, 6th Iraqi Army Div. These units are partnered with the 1st BCT, 4th Inf. Div., MND-B.

“I trust you benefitted and received good information from the course,” said Col. Ali, the operations officer for the 5th Bde., 2nd NP Div. “You can use the information you learned when you return back to your unit and teach it to the new soldiers.”

“You showed great motivation during the course,” said Lt. Col. Augustus Dawson, 5th Bde., 2nd NP transition team chief. “You learned a lot from us. You are Iraq’s most precious resource.”

The information the graduates received at the course was leadership training covering values and ethics, flex firing techniques, close quarter combat techniques, reporting, role of an NCO, first-aid, weapons and vehicle maintenance, physical training, conducting after action reviews and check point operations, said Dawson.

Dawson challenged the graduates to share their training with their peers,
remember the oath they swore to take this job, and not betray the trust of the
Iraqi people.

“The Iraqi people are looking to you for leadership,” Dawson reminded
them.

Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Bobb, the brigade senior enlisted advisor, assigned to 1st BCT, 4th Inf. Div., MND-B, presented the top three graduates with Raider Bde. coins for excellence.
