FORMULA 1 - RENAULT: Barcelona Testing, Day 3, 14 June 2008
/noticias.info/ It's the final day of testing here in Barcelona and the good news is that it looks like we're in for another beautiful day.
As it's the weekend, the test is starting an hour later than usual, so we will not get the green light until 10:00 local time. I guess it's a case of giving the locals a peaceful start to their weekend - the sound of screaming F1 cars is apparently not everybody's favourite way to be woken up on a Saturday morning. But the action runs until 18:00 as usual, so the team will only lose an hour of running.
It's quite a rare occurrence to be testing on a Saturday, but with the quick turn around from the Canadian Grand Prix, it made sense to postpone the test by a day and run over the weekend. Plus, we had the MotoGP race here at the weekend and the MotoGP teams stayed on to test on Monday and Tuesday, and so testing here on Wednesday would have been a tall order and logistical nightmare. When I arrived at the circuit on Thursday morning some of the MotoGP trucks were just leaving...
Yesterday was a solid day for the team and Nelson seemed happy with his day's work. It was a case of examining some aero parts on the front wing and some new aero tweaks at the rear of the car, as well as some suspension set-up work. He did 129 laps which gave the team a lot of data to pore over last night so that they could maximise the final day of running. Today's programme will be a continuation of that work as the team makes its final evaluations before the French Grand Prix.
It's the last time we'll be testing in Barcelona for a while with the upcoming testing schedule seeing the team visit Silverstone, Hockenheim, Jerez, and Monza. It will be the end of the year until the team heads back to Barcelona for the start of winter testing. Mind you, we've already tested here five times this year, so we know this place like the back of our hands.
Be sure to follow the action on the blog today with times posted at lunch time and the end of the day... notas_de_prensa_archivo
