Statement by Carl Bildt, Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe
/noticias.info/ Strasbourg, 16.06.2008 - Referring to the re-run of the Parliamentary elections held in certain polling stations in “the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia” on 15 June 2008, Carl Bildt, Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, today made the following statement: “I am pleased to note that according to international observers, significant improvements in security enabled most people to freely cast their votes, although cases of tensions and intimidations remained evident. I now expect that the range of democratic challenges that remain are addressed, and hope that the new Parliament and Government will constitute themselves in a serene and constructive atmosphere. The Council of Europe stands ready to continue to offer assistance for the full implementation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement.” notas_de_prensa_archivo
