FORMULA 1 - RED BULL RACING: MOVING ON UP...
/noticias.info/ Another good showing from our two boys this afternoon, both making it safely through to the final part of qualifying. After setting the eighth and ninth times, Mark Webber and David Coulthard knew they would start from seventh and eighth respectively, as Lewis Hamilton who was third fastest in Q3 drops to thirteenth spot as punishment for ram-raiding Raikkonen in the Montreal pit lane a fortnight ago. But shortly after the session they discovered they were now going to be in sixth and seventh as Hamilton’s team-mate, Heikki Kovalainen was penalised five places moving to 10th, for getting in the way of… Mark Webber. The statistical story of this afternoon’s qualifying session makes one realise what a young team we are: Ferrari notched up their 200th pole today courtesy of Kimi Raikkonen, who takes his own personal total to 16. Starting alongside him, having recovered from yesterday’s stiff neck is his team-mate Felipe Massa. Row 2 sees a very on-form Fernando Alonso start from fourth for the home side, Renault, with the Toyota of Jarno Trulli alongside him. On the inside of Mark on row 3, we now find Robert Kubica, but the championship leading BMW-Sauber team do not seem to be on the form they were in Canada when the Pole took the win. Car 10
MARK WEBBER, Position 8th
“I’m pretty happy with that. Of course you always want a little bit more, but it could also have been worse for us, so it’s okay. I had Jarno (Trulli) spinning in front of me on my first flying lap in Q3, so it all rested on my final one – but we got there. We’ve got both cars in the top ten, which is what want we wanted. Let’s see what we can do from there tomorrow.”
Car 9 DAVID COULTHARD, Position 9th
“It’s been very close with Renault and also our sister team this weekend, both have been looking very quick, but in the end we have both our cars in the top ten. I have a reasonable fuel load, so I’m pretty happy with my performance today.”
CHRISTIAN HORNER, Team Principal: “A good recovery after a difficult Friday. Both drivers are much happier with the car today. It was a strong performance from both sides of the garage to qualify for Q3 and, lining up in what will become seventh and eighth tomorrow with Lewis’ penalty, we think we’re reasonably placed. We’re looking forward to tomorrow’s race.”
