BEIJING 2008:Chinese leaders check up on Olympic preparations
/noticias.info/ On Friday, while inspecting Beijing's Olympic and Paralympic competition venues, Jia Qinglin, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, emphasized that under the spirit of the Olympics and inspiration from the heroes of the recent earthquake, cooperation must continue in order to ensure that China hosts a high-quality Olympics with distinguishing features.
Jia was accompanied by various government and organizational leaders during his inspection tour, which included visits to the 18 Olympic venues in the capital's Chaoyang, Haidian, and Shijingshan Districts, reported Xinhua.
The leader expressed satisfaction with the preparatory work performed thus far for the Games.
China's central government has supported Olympic preparatory work every step of the way. On June 13, Jia said, President Hu Jintao delivered a speech on the preparations of the upcoming Olympic Games in front of key provincial, district, and city personnel, as well as related officials in the central government. Now, preparatory work is entering its final spurt. We must seriously study and carry out President Hu's important ideas, taking care of earthquake relief efforts with one hand and continuing to prepare for the Games with the other, Jia continued.
Jia scrutinized the various Olympic venues he visited, pointing out that planners must continue to emphasize the ideas of a Green Olympics, a High-tech Olympics, and a People's Olympics. notas_de_prensa_archivo
