“The Republican Party commends the Supreme Court decision this morning upholding the Second Amendment. The Court’s ruling reaffirms that the rights enshrined in our nation’s Constitution are just as relevant now as when it was signed. Today’s ruling also serves as a stark reminder of what is at stake in this election. Senator McCain strongly supports the Second Amendment and our constitutional right to bear arms, while Senator Obama is arguably the most anti-gun presidential candidate in our nation’s history. Obama failed to step forward and join Senator McCain in signing a bipartisan amicus brief expressing support for the ruling issued today. Obama has even supported banning the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns. Today’s ruling is a victory for all Americans and we must remain vigilant to protect our freedoms from those who seek to change them and believe they are above the Constitution.” notas_de_prensa_archivo
