Steven Gerrard held an emotional press conference to announce his decision to stay at Liverpool Football Club.

/noticias.info/ The Reds skipper had been the subject of a big money move to Chelsea throughout Euro 2004 but after some weeks of soul searching he opted to remain with his hometown club.

He said: "The last three or four weeks have been really confusing and for the first time in my career I thought about moving on. But I have gone with the decision that is in my heart and that is to stay with Liverpool. I love the club."

Gerrard's decision would prove to be a wise one as the club went on to secure their fifth European Cup at the end of the 2004/05 season with the midfielder playing a massive role in the final victory over AC Milan in Istanbul. notas_de_prensa_archivo
