EVERTON FC: BIG NAMES LINKED
/noticias.info/ Tony Hibbert reckons that the big names being linked with Everton this summer shows how far the Club has come.
And the Blues right-back believes manager David Moyes deserves credit for the wise way in which he has used the transfer market over the past few seasons, given the tight transfer budget he has had available to him.
But if Everton are going to stay within touching distance of the top four – and at the same time stay ahead of the chasing pack, it is vital the Blues continue to spend wisely according to“Because the way the club is and the way we’re challenging in the league and we’re in Europe, I think we’re bound to (be linked with a better quality of player),” explained the defender. “It’s got better and it’s got bigger. We have to attract the better players so we can get better.
“The other clubs around us have big money and they will spend. It just shows what this Club has done because we haven’t spent a big amount of money and we have spent wisely on what we have spent so it just shows you that we have to get the players in.”
But although Hibbert has spent the entire summer on a rehabilitation programme at Everton’s official training ground Finch Farm, he has admitted he is just as unaware of any potential signings as a regular fan.
The player has spent everyday reading through the newspapers linking footballers from all areas of the globe with the Toffees, including the likes of Andrei Arshavin, Tom Huddlestone, Darren Bent, Jo, Steve Sidwell and Joao Moutinho but he says that the squad don’t find out anything until the new signing is either unveiled to the media or turn up at Finch Farm.
He added: “We don’t know who’s coming in. We just play football and we don’t know about anything transfer wise – so we have to find out the same way as everyone else and that’s through the papers.
“I always get everyone I know asking who we’re getting, but we really don’t know, it’s just the papers or until we actually see them at the training ground.” Hibbert notas_de_prensa_archivo
