Students from 30 countries to seek solutions to European security challenges at Model OS

VIENNA, 3 July 2008 - More than 140 young people from 30 OSCE participating States are coming together in Vienna to take part in the first-ever international project modelling the OSCE, taking place from 5-7 July.
The high school and university students will assume the roles of national delegations (different from their own nationality) and OSCE officials to seek solutions to security challenges related to terrorism and the use of the Internet; water management in Central Asia; and trafficking of Roma children.
Journalists are invited to cover the Model OSCE conference. For admittance, please bring your OSCE badge or a valid press card.
The opening sessions begin at 14.00 on Saturday, 5 July, at the Theresianische Akademie, Festival Hall, Favoritenstrasse 15, 1040 Vienna. Ambassadors Antti Turunen (Finland - OSCE Chairmanship), Margit Wästfelt (Austria), Eric Lebédel (France/European Union) and Julie Finley (United States), as well as acting Permanent Representative Vladimir Voronkov (Russia) and OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut will be taking part.
Model OSCE committee meetings will take place on Sunday starting at 9.00 at the Hofburg Congress Centre. The Permanent Council simulation will begin on Monday at 9.00.
