IBM: IBM Podcast Explores the Future of Movies

/noticias.info/ ARMONK, NY - 03 Jul 2008: As the summer blockbuster movie season enters full swing, IBM (NYSE: IBM) explores the "Future of Movies," a podcast with Yair Landau, former President of Sony Pictures Digital and Saul Berman, Global Strategy Leader for IBM's Media & Entertainment Practice, hosted by Tim Washer. With technology enabling consumer demand for more customization on how they enjoy entertainment, the movie studios must adapt and content providers must adjust to new web-based distribution channels such as YouTube.


IBM-USC Film School Event, 'Imagine the World in 2050'

Separately, looking further into the future of movies, five of IBM's top scientists recently met with students and alumni of the USC School of Cinematic Arts, along with Hollywood filmmakers, to "Imagine the World in 2050." Highlights from the evening are available on YouTube.

"IBM and the Future of...." podcast is a series of conversations with thought leaders on how technology will change everyday life. They will also examine how shifting economics can dramatically alter performance and value in key markets. Other recent episodes include:

* Future of Low Carbon Business: Hearst Corporation's New York City skyscraper recycles its rainwater from the roof to heat and cool the building. Its Café 57 offers sustainable fish entrées and one of the largest organic salad bars. Hosted by Joe Hanley, with Brian Schwagerl, Vice President of Corporate Real Estate and Facilities Planning at Hearst Corporation, and Graham Whitney, IBM's Climate Change Program Leader.
* Future of Golf: Social media and technology are being leveraged to make the game of golf more accessible to new groups of players and new audiences, including in emerging markets like China and India. Hosted by Tim Washer, with Peter Bevacqua, USGA Chief Business Officer and Rick Singer, Director, Worldwide Sponsorship Marketing, IBM.
* Future of Water Management: With climate change gaining wider understanding, the issue of coastal flooding due to rising sea levels and extreme weather episodes is high on the agenda of many governments worldwide. Hosted by Joe Hanley, with Arie Kraaijenveld Chairman of the Netherlands Water Partnership, and Djeevan Schiferli, IBM's Climate Change Impact Team.
