EURO 2012: Positive news from Poland visit
/noticias.info/ UEFA has given a positive assessment of preparations in Poland for UEFA EURO 2012™, which the country will co-host with Ukraine.
One-to-one meetings
UEFA President Michel Platini is heading a UEFA delegation currently visiting the host countries. On Wednesday, he held one-to-one meetings with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Lech Kaczyński, as well as talks with representatives of the Polish Football Association. On Thursday, the party moved on to Ukraine, where Mr Platini will have discussions with Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and President Viktor Yushchenko.
'Managed professionally'
"UEFA believes that the project is being managed professionally, in line with best practises and in close co-operation with UEFA experts," said the European body in a statement after the Poland leg. "UEFA also expresses its satisfaction that the project is fully supported by all political forces, especially the Prime Minister and the President. Both UEFA and the Polish government emphasise that the next four years will require substantial effort. However, if the project continues to be managed in the same manner as in the past few months, it will be a success.
Close co-operation
"The Minister of Sports and Tourism, responsible for the organisation of UEFA EURO 2012™ and the PL.2012 company appointed by him, is closely co-operating with the authorities in the host cities and the Polish Football Association to guarantee the full implementation of the project. All commitments will be completed on time."
Assurances received
Mr Platini said: "All activities in Poland seem to be on track. We have received assurances from the Polish government that the crucial National Stadium in Warsaw will be completed in due time, together with the necessary transport infrastructure. I feel reassured after this visit to the Polish side of the UEFA EURO 2012™ project." notas_de_prensa_archivo
