The Blues enjoyed an impressive campaign last term, securing European qualification via a fifth place finish in the Premier League, progressing to the latter stages of the Uefa Cup and reaching the last four of the Carling Cup.

It meant there was no shortage of memorable matches at Goodison, with some classic league encounters standing out against the likes of Sunderland and Fulham.

Neville is confident the progress the squad is making means the new season will be even more exciting for the supporters.

Neville told evertonfc.com: "We just have to kick on and show the same determination, confidence and consistency that we showed last season. It is early days yet but I'm excited already about the season to come.

"For me and the rest of the players the European experience last season was fantastic but we also got to the semi-finals of the Carling Cup, which everybody seems to have forgotten about a little bit because of our European exploits.

"They really captured the imagination of the fans and the players alike and we had some great occasions at Goodison. It would be great to go on a bigger adventure this year and I am sure the fans will love to be along for the ride!"
