YAMAHA RACING: When Josh met Valentino...
/noticias.info/ Yamaha Monster Motocross Team’s Josh Coppins attended the first day of practice at the TT Assen last week, and the time spent in the company of multi-world champion and Fiat Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi may have had a positive effect on the New Zealander as he dashed to a double moto victory – his first overall triumph of the season – at Teutschenthal in Germany on Sunday.
The 31 year old, a fan of MotoGP, passed through the historic Dutch circuit on the way to the Grand Prix hosted near the city of Halle.
“I have been a few times to MotoGP but not recently and on each occasion I am always amazed by the presentation and set-up of the place,” the YZ450FM racer said. “I know that a lot of MotoGP riders are motocross fans, so to see people like Valentino, Marco Melandri and Andrea Dovizioso at a track in Italy training or practicing is not really a big deal anymore.”
“I found that a lot of people in the paddock knew my name and the championship but didn’t really know the face!” he continued. “One of the technicians in the Yamaha staff is a Kiwi so he made sure we got to have a good look around the M1 and also the pit area. Unfortunately I did not get a chance to try the bike for size (although I have climbed on one at Yamaha’s Communication Plaza in Japan) because the team were stripping the machine at the time.”
“Our racing schedules mean that it is not always easy to try and get there and we were slightly lucky this time in that Assen was more or less on the way to Germany. I hope I can make another one by the end of the season,” he concluded. notas_de_prensa_archivo
