BEIJING 2008:MDS to control shipments to Olympic venues

/noticias.info/ In order to alleviate congestion, facilitate transport, and organize shipments to Olympic venues, a Master Delivery Schedule (MDS) has been successfully established ahead of the start of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Following suggestions from the IOC and keeping the needs of various groups in mind, the MDS will ensure the safe delivery and reception of products.

All shipments to Olympic competition and non-competition venues must first be scheduled on the MDS, organized by the Olympic distribution center.

Olympic sponsors and/or other businesses may communicate directly with the designated representative of the Olympic distribution center, who will take their applications for placement on the MDS. Those guests who only wish to deliver on a one-time basis to one specific venue may provide information to the venue, who will in turn contact the Olympic distribution center for further arrangements.

In May, prior to the MDS, the Olympic distribution center went over the related shipment reception systems of Olympic competition and non-competition venues in detail, including gathering information about when shipments were handled, capacity limits, etc. As of July 4, most Olympic sites have turned in all necessary information. Using this data, the Olympic distribution center will attempt to organize shipments in a systematic manner.
