ARSENAL: Fabregas Week: Cesc's game of the season
/noticias.info/ It's Fabregas Week on Arsenal.com as we celebrate the man who claimed our Player of the Season award. Here, we select Fabregas' game of the season.
Cesc Fabregas stamped his mark on any number of Arsenal games last season but if you had to pick one outstanding performance it's hard to look beyond that famous night in the San Siro.
Arsenal's Champions League tie with Milan was billed in some quarters as men against boys. The European champions had never lost at home to an English side and their midfield triumvirate of Gattuso, Ambrosini and Pirlo was widely regarded as one of the continent's finest combinations.
Fabregas - not to mention Mathieu Flamini - had other ideas. They out-passed, out-ran and out-thought their illustrious opponents to lay the foundations for a richly-deserved 2-0 victory. Fabregas was Milan's tormentor-in-chief, probing and prompting from midfield before opening the scoring with a rasping 30-yard drive six minutes from time.
The Spaniard's celebrations will live long in the memory. He sprinted off towards the Arsenal dugout, slid on his knees and embraced Arsène Wenger before running off, kissing the badge on his shirt. Emmanuel Adebayor slotted home a second goal in stoppage time to put the icing on the cake.
Subscribers can now watch highlights of Fabregas' most significant game of the season on Arsenal TV Online. notas_de_prensa_archivo
