FORMULA 1 - RENAULT: Hockenheim Testing, Day 3, 10/07/2008
/noticias.info/ The final day of testing in Hockenheim and the last chance to get the car in shape for next week's German Grand Prix.
It's a glorious summer morning here in Hockenheim as the ING Renault F1 Team gets down to its final day of work. Fernando remains in the car and will wrap things up by focusing on getting the car sorted for the Grand Prix, playing with the set-up and balance of the car to see what works best. The team can do that as most of the R&D work was completed successfully yesterday, giving the team some useful information.
Speaking to Fernando yesterday evening, he seemed in quite good spirits and happy with his first day's work. As you saw from the photos, he was happy to sign autographs for the fans, joke with the mechanics and had a big smile on his face for most of the day. He even managed a quick game of cards yesterday evening to relax with some of the team members.
Nelson is here again today, but he will probably head off just after lunch. Whenever the team test, there is always a standby driver, just in case something unforeseen should happen. In the past we've seen drivers pull a muscle or fall ill during a test and so it makes sense to have a driver in the wings. After all we're all in place and ready to test. It's not as if one of the mechanics can step up!
The other thing I wanted to mention was the feeling you get when you walk into the pit lane here as you are greeted by a mass of grandstands. I've tried to capture that in the photos as it's really impressive and takes your breath away. It's a real amphitheatre, which will help generate a great atmosphere for the race next week. It almost felt like walking out into a football stadium, except it's hallowed tarmac as opposed to hallowed turf.
Once again a reminder to everyone to try and keep the blog focussed on today's events and the team. The blog is not an appropriate place for you to vent your anger or to engage in private arguments with individual members of the community. Remember you can always contact members by private message if you want to talk directly to somebody.
So here's to a good day of testing. Follow events on the blog with updates posted throughout the day. notas_de_prensa_archivo
