UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Rangers reeling from Ferguson blow
/noticias.info/ Rangers FC will be without their captain Barry Ferguson as they attempt to negotiate two qualifying rounds and reach the group stage of the UEFA Champions League after the midfielder picked up an ankle injury which will sideline him for three months.
'Huge blow'
The 30-year-old Scottish international travelled to London to see a specialist and has been diagnosed with ligament damage that will require surgery. The UEFA Cup finalists confirmed the news this afternoon, saying: "Ferguson has been struck down with an ankle problem and the fear is that he will be out of action for three months. He will remain at Murray Park for treatment and clearly it is a huge blow to [manager] Walter Smith's plans. The injury was discovered in the early part of this week." Rangers, the Scottish Premier League runners-up, will welcome Andorra's FC Santa Coloma or FBK Kaunus of Lithuania to Ibrox on Wednesday 30 July before concluding their second qualifying round tie away from home the following week. notas_de_prensa_archivo
