/noticias.info/ The Reds boss believes the clash with Ronnie Moore's men will give him a chance to monitor the progress of some of his fringe players and admits he could give Andrea Dossena and Philipp Degen their first run out in a Liverpool shirt.

"The first game is always different," he said. "It's the first time we will be talking about Dossena or Degen so my idea is to use the senior players and some of the younger lads because the Spanish players will come back later.

"We need to check on Gerrard and Vornoin and assess all the players that were away and how they are now. The players we have signed could be available and could play.

"My idea is to use a lot of players because they are not ready to play for 90 minutes. So we will try to protect them and we will give opportunities to the younger players.

"We know about the quality of the youngsters and some will come with us to the the pre-season camp. Every game you play is a test so they know they need to impress.

"If they don't impress maybe they will lose an opportunity so it is important for them to give 100 per cent in every game." notas_de_prensa_archivo
