EVERTON FC: MOLY GLAD TO BE BACK

/noticias.info/ After an injury nightmare, Lee Molyneux is delighted to be back in full training.

The young left-sided reserve player missed last season completely but he's worked hard to get himself back to fitness and he's relishing being part of the traveling squad here in Switzerland.

"Training with the first-team players after the year I've had is something very positive for me," he told evertonTV at the team's hotel.

Lee's description of the injury that derailed his promising career is not for the faint-hearted!

"I slipped two discs in my back and they were lying on a nerve and needed to be shaved," he explained. "It was very painful."

Once the diagnosis was confirmed it instantly meant a long spell on the sidelines for Lee and a very long road back to recovery.

Often training alone at Finch Farm, he found it tough going both in a physical and mental sense.

"I've had to be very patient because I've never really had an injury before," he said. "It was nine months out and it was hard at times.

"It can be draining after a few months when you can't see any signs of getting better. You can start to think ‘is this it for me?' but you've got to stay strong mentally."

A naturally left-sided footballer, Lee admitted that he has no real preference between defence and midfield and revealed that he admires players with adaptability.

"Joleon went to left-back and ended up playing for England so he's a player that I look up to," he said.

"I also like to watch attacking full-backs like Patrice Evra at Man United."

Lee has come through the ranks at Everton so he's no stranger to being away on tour but he agreed that it's a big step-up for the young players to actually be traveling with the first-team squad.

"We've been on a lot of tours together with the Academy but coming into this environment you are treated like a man rather than a boy so you have to learn to stand on your own two feet," he said.

"But the senior pros here are great and they're always speaking to us. The likes of Jags and Joleon and AJ are always giving advice." notas_de_prensa_archivo
