EVERTON FC: LESCOTT RARING TO GO

/noticias.info/ Joleon Lescott is raring to go ahead of Everton's first pre-season friendly.

The Toffees have only been back training for just over a week, but last season's Player of the Year can't wait to get back into match action.

Swiss outfit FC Sion provide the opposition on Saturday, with their domestic season just a week away.

And Everton's squad is short of the likes of Mikel Arteta, Tim Cahill and Tony Hibbert as they recover from injury.

Lescott told evertonTV: "It's disappointing not everyone's fit, but I'm ready to go and looking forward to it.

"We expect them to be sharper but that can only help us. Hopefully in the long run we will benefit from it."

With the aforementioned absentees joined by Everton's African contingent and Tim Howard, there will be a chance for some younger players to impress against Sion.

"If I can help out the young boys I will try to do that," continued Lescott. "Pre-season is mainly about fitness so tomorrow I'll be hoping to get through the 90 minutes.

"The young boys have worked hard and they might get the chance to prove themselves." notas_de_prensa_archivo
