UEFA ORGANISATION: Champions No30 – out now

/noticias.info/ In a special legends issue, Champions, the official magazine of the UEFA Champions League, goes one-on-one with some of the game's biggest names.

Kahn on keeping
German goalkeeping great Oliver Kahn talks about coping with life at the top and being pelted with fruit. Football can't break you - it is not life and death, he says ... but it can drain you. Fenerbahçe SK left-back Roberto Carlos – and his successor for both Real Madrid CF and Brazil, Marcelo – discuss the art of Brazilian defending. He says that Brazilians know how to defend, but attack is the first choice – a virtue rather than a handicap. In another article, much-travelled Dutchman Patrick Kluivert reflects on his playing days, while pondering a future career as a coach.

Torres talks
Cover star and scorer of the winning goal in the UEFA EURO 2008™ final, Liverpool FC and Spain's Fernando Torres talks exclusively about the people who have shaped him. On his manager's quest for perfection, he reveals that even with 20 goals, coach Rafael Benítez still searches for more out of him. Brazilian midfielder Diego loves life at Werder Bremen, and they love him. The German club's creative force, he dispels rumours of a move away, saying that feeling at peace helps him work well.

On the way up
Champions looks at two clubs on the way up. Spain's Club Atlético de Madrid are back on track, have a new hero in Sergio Agüero and are ready to step out of the shadow of city rivals Real Madrid. In Italy, coach Claudio Ranieri has steered Juventus back to the right end of Serie A and back into Europe. He tells Champions that his team is nothing like the Bianconeri of old. Staying with Juventus, we examine the inside story of the transfer of the century: Zinédine Zidane's move from Italy to Real Madrid.

One night in Moscow
As everyone looks forward to the new UEFA Champions League season, Champions remembers one May night in Moscow – the joy and the pain at the latest final – and meets Manchester United FC's Brazilian ace Anderson. Elsewhere in the latest issue, Champions explores one of football's greatest cultural mysteries: did the Beatles hide their football love away? We hear about spooks in Sunderland and saints in Spain in the paranormal history of the game. Read a tactical biography of FC Internazionale Milano, from the days of coach Helenio Herrera in the 1960s to brand-new José Mourinho ... and remember the unique competition that was the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.

Masopust's memories
The new issue also comes face-to- face with Czech legend and 1962 Ballon d'Or winner Josef Masopust. People didn't come to watch if the side would win – they came to see how many goals the team would score, recalls the midfield genius who starred for AC Dukla Praha and the national side. On a lighter note, Champions looks at walls – the best, and worst, ways to defend a free-kick; hears from Colombian legend Faustino Asprilla; and explores the delights of Transylvania's CFR 1907 Cluj as they join the UEFA Champions League.
