FORMULA 1 – HONDA RACING: News Jenson to appear at 2008 Race of Champions
/noticias.info/ Honda Racing F1 Team driver Jenson Button has confirmed he will drive at this year’s Race of Champions (RoC) at Wembley Stadium, UK in December.
Jenson was one half of the English Nations Cup entry in the 2007 event and, with touring car legend Andy Priaulx, made it to the semi finals before falling to the German team comprising seven times Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher and current F1 star Sebastian Vettel. Jenson also vied for victory in the main drawcard solo competition, where he was knocked out again by Schumacher.
This year Jenson will be looking to better those results and will compete in both categories. His team-mate for the 2008 Nations Cup is yet to be confirmed but in a change to the previous format Jenson will drive for one of two Team Britain entries.
"I never thought I'd be able to say I'd compete for my country against Germany at Wembley," said Button. "But it was great to do that last year. The crowd were awesome and as soon as I heard that Schumacher and Vettel had signed up for Germany again, I knew I had to come back and take them on.
"Last year was the first time I'd done the Race of Champions and, although it's all a bit of fun and we say it doesn't matter who wins, I was gutted that we lost out to the German team. It's the one chance a year where we all get to compete against each other in identical cars and I'm determined to help Britain through to the final this time."
