MSN Property Breakdown and Growth Areas
/noticias.info/ Last week I promised to post a property breakdown for MSN, similar to the data I posted for Yahoo! and Google. The following table lists the top 20 MSN and Live properties based on share of US Internet visits in June 2007. The percentage refers to the percent of visits among those 20 websites.
These MSN properties receive more US visits from Google than from MSN Search. Greg Sterling was probably right in his response to my post two weeks ago on Yahoo!'s properties when he noted that I should not have been surpised that Yahoo! properties receive more traffic from Google than from Yahoo! Search. I looked at the same data for MSN and sure enough, the top 20 MSN properties receive more traffic from Google than from MSN. Last month, Google accounted for 4.39% of upstream visits to these MSN properties compared to 1.25% from MSN Search and Live and 1.10% from Yahoo! Search.
I also looked at which MSN properties among these top 20 are growing most rapidly. Among the top 5 properties, three have experienced positive growth in share of US Internet visits. Live Mail has enjoyed nearly 6 fold growth but this is in large part due to the rebranding from Hotmail. Taking both properties together, Live Mail and Hotmail have experienced a 16% growth in visits. US Visits to Live.com are up 18% and to MSN Moneycentral up 27%. Further down the rankings, other fast growing properties include all of the Live domains, MSN Spaces up 98%, MSN Autos up 71% and MSN Lifestyle up 100%.
