LIVERPOOL FC: REDS DUO GIVEN 'FROSTY' RECEPTION
It will come as no surprise to hear that Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher were among the main attractions for supporters lucky enough to get a glimpse of their heroes at the club's pre-season training camp in Interlaken this week.
/noticias.info/ But it wasn't the sight of the skipper and his vice-captain running themselves through the rigorous fitness programme designed by the club's coaching staff that was drawing in the crowds.
Instead, it was the miniature ice sculptures of the duo, as created by Canadian artist Bruno Haenggi, that was quite literally leading to fans giving their favourite scousers the cold shoulder.
The 62-year-old's designs each took a day to create, a labour of love to portray models of two players who he believes epitomise the Liverpool spirit.
"I think Steven Gerrard embodies everything about the club," he told Liverpoolfc.tv.
"He is the main man, the number eight who makes it all happen. He has everything as a footballer; he is a true winner and I just love his drive and determination.
"It's the same with Carra. He'll give everything for the cause and has such a great passion for the club and its supporters.
"They are the local heartbeat of Liverpool FC and that's why I chose to create them."
Bruno's passion for his sculptures was evident for all to see as he enthusiastically set about giving a demonstration to a bewildered LFC TV crew outside his workshop; which was rather fittingly situated right opposite the club's training camp.
The Toronto-born sculptor is a lively, quirky character and it wasn't long before he had presenter Claire Rourke in the thick of the action.
From chisel to chainsaw, the face of the club's TV channel set to work and, with more than a little help from the boy Bruno, it wasn't long before she was standing proudly aside an impressive swan.
"It was an experience, let's put it that way," laughed Claire. "I think the end result is really impressive. I wish I could take all the credit but it's all down to Bruno's talent, really.
"As much fun as it was, I don't think I'll be giving up my job as a presenter to open up an ice-sculpting business anytime soon." notas_de_prensa_archivo
