LIVERPOOL FC: ON THIS DAY: JULY 19, 2005
/noticias.info/ The inspirational midfielder came off the bench late in the second-half to notch goals on 85 and 86 minutes to wrap up a 6-0 aggregate triumph after Djibril Cisse had opened the scoring at the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham.
The Reds could have gone on and notched up a higher margin of victory had it not been for a Dietmar Hamann penalty miss and some inspired goalkeeping from Ged Doherty.
Midfielder Bolo Zenden was pleased to progress and hailed the display of the TNS stopper.
He said at the time: "I think we played well at home even though we could have scored more goals at Anfield.
"It took us a long time before we got the second goal but credit to TNS and they put in another grreat performance, especially their goalkeeper Doherty who can look back on two fantastic games against Liverpool.
"I am enjoying pre-season so far with Liverpool and we are working hard. We are training twice a day and trying to get as fit as possible and prepare for the next Champions League match." notas_de_prensa_archivo
