EVERTON FC: BOSS RELISHES CAMBRIDGE RETURN
/noticias.info/ David Moyes is looking forward to the Cambridge game for numerous reasons.
When he left Celtic to play football in England, Cambridge were the team that signed him.
Moyes also won promotion at the Abbey Stadium when manager of Preston.
“I’m looking forward to it,” said the Everton boss. “I’ve been back plenty of times before and I won promotion with Preston there.
"Hopefully it will be another good run around for us and the team will be similar to the one against Sion."
When Moyes arrived at Cambridge, the team were competing in the second tier of English football - a far cry from their current status.
“Cambridge was the first move I made away from Scotland and I joined when they were playing at a really good standard," recalled Moyes. "They were in the equivalent of the Championship now and there were some great teams in there.
“Chelsea had David Speedie and Kerry Dixon playing up front, Derby were in there, so too where Manchester City, while the Newcastle team had an attack of Keegan, (Peter) Beardsley and (Chris) Waddle."
Indeed, that quality was apparent when Moyes made his debut!
He added: “The game I made my debut in was against Portsmouth, who had Mark Hateley playing for them and he scored a hat-trick before getting a move to AC Milan. It was a tough division but a great one to play in.” notas_de_prensa_archivo
