EVERTON FC: MOYES: MIKEL MIGHT PLAY

/noticias.info/ David Moyes has admitted that Mikel Arteta could feature against Cambridge United today.

The Everton boss has been keeping a close eye on his Spanish midfielder and he is happy with his progress.

The Blues will however still be without the four African players, however Moyes explained that he will have both Steven Pienaar and Yakubu back next week.

The Goodison chief exclusively told evertonTV: “There’s a possibility that Mikel Arteta will come with us, he’s been doing a bit of training and every thing going well, we might get him 15 – 20 minutes in the game.

“The thing about it is it’s the same lads that are getting a run out which is the hard bit. Phil Jagielka, Joleon Lescott, Phil Neville, Nuno Valente will certainly all take part.

“After that we’ve got mainly young players.

“We’re waiting for the arrival back over the next few days of Steven Pienaar and Yak. And then if we can get Mikel back into the fold and that will help as well.”

The friendly against Cambridge will no doubt bring back fond memories for Moyes, who had a stint at the club during his playing career.

And although the Everton manager reckons that the city is not renowned for it’s football, the passion is most definitely still there.

He added: “I had just left Celtic and joined Cambridge who were in the Championship. I couldn’t say it was a great footballing city or town, but it was part of my career and I enjoyed my time there.

“I think any body who follows a club are always passionate about it.

“I would say that it’s more well known for it’s universities and it’s boating teams. But it’s a lovely place to live, a lovely part of the world and I was disappointed that they didn’t get themselves into the football league last year.”
