EVERTON FC: MIKEL'S RETURN
/noticias.info/ Mikel Arteta has revealed his delight of returning from injury ahead of schedule.
The Spanish midfielder replaced Andy van der Meyde with 15 minutes remaining in Everton’s 4-2 loss to non-league side, Cambridge United.
And although Arteta has expressed his sheer disappointment with the result, he is relieved to be finally playing football without any repercussions on his niggling abdominal injury.
It was originally planned that the player would return to action in time for the Blues’ pre-season tour of America, but the creative midfielder has made good progress over the past few months and was ready for an early return.
Mikel exclusively told evertonTV: “I wanted to play 15 or 20 minutes I’ve done it and I didn’t feel anything at all so it’s good news for that.
“I am not happy with the result – to concede four goals in a friendly game is bad and I don’t think that says many good things.
“I expected to play my first game in America, so I am two weeks ahead of schedule so I need to take it easy as well. I can’t just go over there and do crazy things because I’m still just about returning from the injury but I’m so happy to be back.
“I trying to get my fitness levels up and trying to get used to playing with people around me because it’s different to when you are training on your own – so my aim is to get on the pitch and to get back to normal.” notas_de_prensa_archivo
