GOLF: PGA: Lindsay's the Mann at halfway mark
/noticias.info/ Former Walker Cup player Lindsay Mann continued his recent improved form with a six-under-par 64 to lead the field at the halfway stage of the Callaway/Audi 36-hole Scottish PGA Order of Merit tournament at Lanark Golf Club.
Mann, from the well-known Carnoustie golfing family, had a purple patch straddling the turn of five birdies in seven successive holes.
In all he birdied the sixth, seventh, eighth, 11th, 12th, 16th and 17th in halves of 33 and 31. Mann had only one bogey, at the 13th.
But even golf of that class did not give him more than a one-shot overnight lead from unattached Englishman Jonathan Lomas who made it through to the last day of the Open on Sunday.
Lomas birdied the fifth, sixth, eighth, ninth, 11th and 16th in halves of 32 and 33. Like the leader, he had one bogey, at the 10th.
Of the three players sharing third place on 66, David Orr (East Renfrewshire) deserves a mention. His 66 included a double bogey 6 at the 14th so he had to shoot seven birdies in all to compensate for that blunder. He also dropped a shot at the 15th but finished up with a bag of seven birdies.
Also on 66 are David Broadfoot (Dumfries & County) and Euan Little (County Tipperary). notas_de_prensa_archivo
