BEIJING 2008:672 shows in 66 days in 26 plazas
/noticias.info/ During the Games, continuous shows will be hosted in the 26 specially created Olympic cultural plazas for the enjoyment of friends from all around the world.
Wang Zhu of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture revealed that these cultural activities, aimed at showcasing Chinese traditions, will be held at specifically built venues, the smallest of which can accommodate over a thousand people. Every day, for 66 days in a row starting on July 13, entertainment activities will be hosted for at least 8 hours at the cultural plazas.
The plazas are outfitted with large television screens, which will broadcast Olympic competitions during the Games. Afterwards, the screens will still be used to televise enriching programs for Beijing residents.
In addition, exhibitions will be on site at the plazas. Visitors may roam around, taking in the sights and enjoying the services of Olympic volunteers while whetting appetites with local cuisine and shopping for Olympic souvenirs. Olympic sponsors may also be at the plazas, operating separate activities throughout the 66-day period.
According to Wang, 672 shows will be put on between July 13 and September 17, the same day of the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games.
628 non-Beijing-based groups will be arriving in the capital city to perform. Hailing from places as far as Mexico and as close as Shanghai, they will bring varied artistic entertainment to the stage. notas_de_prensa_archivo
