BEIJING 2008:Source of gas odor at IBC determined to be varnish

/noticias.info/ Journalists left the International Broadcast Center (IBC) building on Wednesday evening around 6:30 p.m. when they smelled gas. The venue operations team and related gas and fire control professionals rushed to the scene to bring any potential leakage problems under control.

The source of the gas odor was later determined to be spilled varnish; the odor had traveled through the vents.

An official from the venue has issued an apology to the affected reporters. The venue operations team will take measures to increase supervision over all processes in the IBC to prevent similar problems from occurring in the future, the official said. notas_de_prensa_archivo
