LONDON 2012:London 2012 inspires local children to learn
Over 2,000 children from schools around the Olympic Park have taken place in activities and workshops arranged by the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) throughout this summer.
/noticias.info/ Children from east London have produced artwork which is displayed on a section of the hoardings around the Park. They have also attended archaeology workshops to learn about how the area has been transformed over thousands of years.
Before the summer holidays 14 primary schools in the five Host Boroughs - Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest and Greenwich - have taken part in sessions that highlight the importance of staying safe around construction sites; 10 secondary schools will also take part in the autumn.
ODA Chairman John Armitt said: ‘Children and young people are integral to the success of the Games in London, and there have been many opportunities for them to get involved.
‘We have had a string of really successful projects that have been set up so that children from all the Host Boroughs have had the opportunity to get their hands dirty – be it with paint or mud!’
