PSV: Dutch Olympic team earn a late 1-0 win over Belgium

Coach Foppe de Haan handed starting places to three PSV players at the Crital Arena in Genk. Makaay scored the winning goal five minutes from time.

The Dutch team put in a poor first-half display. They did better after the break but failed to create any meaningful chances. The Belgians created a hatful of chances in the first period, but the Belgian team, who have also qualified for the Beijing Olympics, lacked cutting edge. Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen hit the post and AZ striker Moussa Dembélé fired over the bar. Roy Makaay eventually turned out to be the match winner for Holland. On Saturday, they will travel to Hong Kong, where they will meet Ivory Coast on Wednesday 30 July.
