CHELSEA FC: CHELSEA COACHES KICK OFF NEW GAMES AREA

/noticias.info/ Chelsea community coaches joined young people from the Arndale estate and local councillors in Wandsworth on Tuesday to open a newly refurbished ball games area.

The estate's previous games area has been modernised and upgraded in a £120,000 scheme that aims to give young people on the estate a dedicated place where they can play a range of sports.

The games area is floodlit and will be open every day from 9am to approximately 9pm for young people to use and will host regular five-a-side football, basketball and netball sessions.

The Chelsea coaches put on a skills session and five-a-side tournament for the local youngsters aged between six and 16 and will be looking to host regular sessions in the future.

Wandsworth Council's Executive Member for Housing Cllr Martin D Johnson said: 'This will be an ideal place for youngsters on the estate to stay fit and active.

'It gives them a natural place to meet and socialise and offers them the chance to engage in some structured activities.

'It's very important to mark the opening in a special way and the fact Chelsea is involved has led to the excitement amongst the children and parents on the estate.'

Thanking the club for their contribution on the day, Roy Evans, director of housing said: 'I think it's a fantastic outcome for the council and I would like to thank Chelsea Football Club for everything they have done to make that happen.' notas_de_prensa_archivo
