FORMULA 1 - SAUBER: Samuel Schmid, President of the Swiss Confederation, visits Sauber in Hinwil
/noticias.info/ High-ranking visitor at Sauber in Hinwil. Today, the President of the Swiss Confederation, Samuel Schmid, visited the Swiss Formula 1 team. The visit by the Minister of Defence and Sports was paid as a tribute to the achievements of Peter Sauber, who will retire as Team Principal at the end of the year.
The President was obviously impressed by the factory and – in particular - the wind tunnel. "Today’s visit has made the complex technology and effort clear that is required to successfully meet the challenge of Formula 1. All the greater is my respect for the achievements of our Swiss team. For me, Sauber is an example of what is possible through entrepreneurial courage, innovation and perseverance. Apart from this, I am particularly pleased about the fact that by selling the company to BMW Peter Sauber has managed to secure the jobs at the Hinwil location for the long term."
"For all of the team’s employees, the President’s visit was both a great pleasure and honour. Our presence in international motorsport also makes us ambassadors for Switzerland abroad. We have always endeavoured to perform this role as best we could and regard this visit as a mark of appreciation for our work," said Peter Sauber, expressing his pleasure about the presence of the high-ranking guest.
The Minister of Defence and Sports had paid his first visit to the Sauber team on the occasion of the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim about two years ago.
