Flying to Cluj Napoca under Malév’s flight number

/noticias.info/ Malév’s destinations to Romania widened from three to four today. Alongside existing destinations Bucharest, Timisoara and Constanta , Cluj Napoca is also available with Malév’s flight number from 11th July. The flight operates from Budapest to the Transylvanian city twice a day with Carpatair’s Saab 340 turboprop aircrafts with 32 leather seats.

Malév received permission from the Romanian Aviation Authority on 30th June to buy seats on flights of from a Romanian airline on the route and to sell them with the MA flight number. On the basis of the code-share agreement between Malév and the Romanian airline, flights operating between Budapest and Cluj Napoca will now include Malév’s code.

Budapest – Cluj Napoca – Budapest schedule:

BUD-CLJ: MA 6282 BUD 1340 1550 CLJ
MA 6292 BUD 2045 2245 CLJ

CLJ-BUD: MA 6281 CLJ 0630 0630 BUD
MA 6291 CLJ 1630 1630 BUD

Malév also now has permission from the Romanian authorities to launch a flight to Tirgu Mures, Suceava and Bacau in its own right. The national airline is analysing all three destinations to determine when to start and how to do this profitably.
Currently there is a growing interest in Romanian destinations. The Hungarian airlines’ flight to Bucharest is a good example as it operates with load factors consistently above the average. The Romanian capital is one of the fastest improving destinations of Malév. In the first half of 2005, the total number of customers increased by 10% compared to last year and the increase was more than 25% . This is in line with growth for all of Malév’s routes in the East-European region where the number of Malév’s passengers grew by 9.9% in first 5 months of 2005.
The new flights are well timed to enable customers to transfer to Cluj easily at Budapest, with the early afternoon flight meeting the inbound noontime wave from Western Europe and the early morning flight from Cluj arriving in time for the westbound waves each day.
