Recientemente, Geoff Keighley, creador y presentador de The Game Awards 2021, dio a conocer cuáles son los juegos que optarán por recibir un premio durante la ceremonia y anunció los 6 seis juegos que competirán para llevarse el título de GOTY 2021; entre ellos se encuentra Resident Evil Village, Deathloop, Metroid Dread, Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart, It Takes Two y Psychonauts 2.
La premiación que se llevará a cabo el próximo 9 de diciembre posiciona a Deathloop como el líder del evento al ser este el juego con más nominaciones (8 en concreto), seguido de Psychonauts 2, It Takes Two y Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart con 5 nominaciones cada uno.
